On Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 10:11 p.m., Essex County Sheriff’s Officers arrested Basir North, of Orange, for resisting arrest by flight, unlawful possession of a handgun, and receiving stolen property among other charges.
While stopped at a red light at the intersection of Central Avenue and South Harrison Street, in East Orange, an Essex County Sheriff’s Officer observed a vehicle matching the description of a stolen vehicle crash into another vehicle, authorities said.
The driver then exited the vehicle and fled north on South Harrison Street, authorities said.
North was then apprehended with the help of additional sheriff’s officers and the East Orange Police and transported to University Hospital.
